Monroe Bradley Olson

Monroe Bradley Olson, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2019 at his residence in Mentor. Born August 30, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN, he resided in Sarasota, FL for 28 years before moving to Mentor three years ago. Monroe enjoyed singing, listening to classical music, sailing, traveling to Europe, and teaching voice. He was the Chairman/Dean of Fine Arts for North Park University in Chicago for 26 years, retiring in 1988. Monroe previously made a living as a Bugler in the United States Army. He is survived by his daughter Sharon Roe Hewes (Marty); son Ronald Alan Olson (Amy); son-in-law Tom Gehring; grandchildren Sonja Broach (Chris), Steffen Smith, Shura Gehring, Damon Gehring, Anders Olson, and Reece Olson; great-grandchildren Violet Broach, Fox Broach and Dahlia Broach. Monroe is predeceased by his wife Barbara Olson (Havig); daughter Cathy Rae Gehring; and granddaughter Larisa Gehring. A Memorial Service to honor Monroe will be held at 11:30 am, on Saturday April 13, 2019 at Church of the Redeemer, 222 South Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236.
