Nancy was born on June 30, 1945 in rural Clothier, West Virginia to parents Earthel and Ethel Thompson and was the second youngest of ten children. She spent part of her childhood on a family farm in Madison, WV, where she was raised by her grandparents, Millard and Jane Thompson.
Nancy moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1962, was married at the age of 18, and started a family, which had always been her dream from a very young age. She was a wonderful, loving mother, raising five children and being very active and supportive in their lives and education. Nancy volunteered as a room mother for many years at St. Mary’s School in Mentor, assisting the teacher in day-to-day activities with the children.
Nancy enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, often making delicious homemade jams to share with everyone. She was very passionate about her hobbies which included gardening, interior decorating, crafting, and sewing. She spent many years surrounded by her grandchildren, which made her so happy to be a part of their lives and watch them grow up. In recent years she became a great grandmother, which was an absolute joy to her.
Remaining to cherish Nancy’s memory are her children Joseph (Kelly), Timothy, David (Jacqueline), James (Patricia), and Marianne (Matthew), her seven grandsons and eleven granddaughters, and her seven great grandsons and four great granddaughters.
Preceding Nancy in death is son Christopher, and siblings Alfred, Janis, Pauline, Donald, Lula Jane, Earthel, Hildred, Franklin and Janie.
