Born February 6, 1941, Nancy lived in Mentor before moving to Arizona after retirement 15 years ago.
Nancy devoted 48 years to nursing, retiring in 2010 as a Registered Nurse. Over the course of her long and fulfilling career, she served in the emergency room and critical care unit and ultimately brought comfort and dignity to others as a Hospice Nurse. In every setting, Nancy’s presence reflected integrity, honesty, and a calm clarity that helped others find their footing in difficult moments.
Beyond her professional calling, Nancy was a long standing and loved volunteer at Halo dog rescue and thrift store. She was a valued mentor and sponsor within the CODA (Codependency) community. Nancy was also very active in local politics supporting local initiatives.
Nancy will be remembered for her wisdom, thoughtful insight, clarity, honesty, integrity, and caring heart. More than the ability to discern right from wrong, Nancy’s keen observation skills allowed her to decipher right from almost right, wisdom with shrewd deductive reasoning and yet gentle as a dove, she could speak the truth with love and kindness. Her sense of humor was always with her, even during difficult times, Nancy never lost her ability to laugh and her laugh was quite infectious.
She is survived by her sons James M. Gallagher and Michael K. Gallagher; brother James Boland; sister Joyce Ducoty; and nephews James Stare and Sean Ducoty.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father James Michael Boland and mother Velma Boland (Ward).
