Born December 8, 1937, in Cleveland, he resided in Auburn Twp. for the last 48 years. Robert pursued a distinguished career as a polymer chemist, contributing his knowledge and skill at Sherman Williams and BYK Chemie, where his work reflected care, precision, and a deep respect for doing things well. Beyond his professional life, Robert found lasting enjoyment in the simple, grounding pleasures that make a home and a community. He loved fishing and hiking in the woods, and he took pride in woodworking and gardening—hands-on pursuits that rewarded patience and attention to detail. He also enjoyed softball, bargain shopping, and a good game of Pinochle, and he generously gave his time working at St. Helens Bingo, a familiar place where neighbors became friends and time was shared with warmth and good spirit. Robert is survived by his children Robert (Adelaida), Joseph, Peggy (Adam) Mills, Thomas, and Maggie Cavanagh; grandchildren Lily, Ignatius, Abigail, Anthony, Michael (Olivia) Mills, Joseph (Lydia) Mills; Therese, Isaac, Catherine Claire, Benjamin, Jamie, Emily, Robert, Edward, and Isabella.
