Teresia Redling (nee Brunner), age 91, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2025. Born March 14, 1934 in Hungary, she was a resident of Newbury before moving to Middlefield six years ago. Teresia's life journey brought her across the ocean to the United States. Although Teresia and her late husband Frank both hailed from Hungary, it was not until they arrived in the United States that their paths crossed. The couple married on July 3, 1954, at Holy Trinity Church in Cleveland, and together they built a strong foundation of love and devotion. On November 7, 1958, Frank and Teresia proudly became naturalized citizens of the United States, marking a new chapter in their lives. In the early 1960s, Teresia worked nights at a knitting mill in Cleveland, balancing her work life with her passion for crafts. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crochet, always creating beautiful items for her family and friends. Later in life, Teresia’s love for singing was expressed through her participation in a German choir. Prior to this, she and Frank were both active in a German dance group. In 1965, Frank and Teresia moved their family to Newbury, where they became part of a close-knit community. Their home on Chillicothe Road, affectionately known as “The Old South,” became a gathering place for family and friends, especially on the Fourth of July, when they celebrated not only the nation's independence but also their wedding anniversary. One of the most memorable celebrations was in 1969 when a tornado knocked out power for over a week. Teresia is survived by her daughter Mary (Steve) Halasz; grandsons Michael Fear and Ryan Fear; great-grandchildren Cole Fear, Amber Fear, and Emery Fear (due in May). Teresia loved children and would have done anything in her power to meet Emery. She was very excited at the prospect of being a great-grandma 3 times. Teresia is preceded in death by her husband Frank Redling; son Frank Redling, Jr.; parents Thomas and Theresa Brunner; and sister Anna Brandlehner. Family and friends may call at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland on Sunday, March 30, 2025, 1 – 4 pm, where a Remembrance Service will be held immediately following at 4:00 pm. (Teresia’s family asks that visitors wear light colored or spring attire.) Private Interment at a later date at Munn Cemetery in Newbury.
