

Born Feb. 17, 1923, in Tyndall, S.D., he had lived in Newbury Township since 1946.
William was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II in the Philippians. He met his late wife, Ruth in Atlanta, and they later made the Cleveland area their home.
William was a past president of the Newbury School Board. He had an interest in cars and all mechanical devices. William also enjoyed woodworking, especially making grandfather clocks. He built his own home and often made furniture from wood that he personally cut down.
William became an auto technician after he left the military, and later moved into automobile service management at the dealership level. In 1957, he began working with the Ford Motor Company and was associated with the launch of the Edsel. He later worked in a management capacity for the Lincoln Mercury Division of Ford, and the Ford Parts and Service Division district office in Brecksville, before retiring in 1983.
Survivors are his sons, William J. (Sylvia) and Robert C.; grandchildren, Heather (Eric) Passow, William E. II (Jennifer), Holly (Eugene) Corrigan, and four others; great-grandchilden, Meagan and Maddison Passow, and Cameron Corrigan; and sister, Virginia Cox.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth J.; parents, William and Myrtle Schneider; sisters, Leinad Hull and Joey Arnsten; and brothers, Jim and Robert.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Munn Cemetery in Newbury Township.
