Tia Ali is greatly missed by the entire family but none more so than her daughters and grandchildren.  The love they shared was evident in their kindness, their generosity, and their united efforts in making life enjoyable and more comfortable for one another. I'm proud to have witnessed and directly experienced that cariño. No doubt a result of Tia Ali's nurturing influence.

It will be tough  continuing without my Tia's larger than life presence. She was often in my thoughts as I gazed at family pictures and thought about my paternal grandparents. Yet everytime I interact with my cousins and sobrinos, I can see she's still here. It's a comforting thought. Los quiero mucho!

There was no finer woman than Alicia.  She was beautiful inside and out....a loving mother,  the best grandmother...and did so much for everyone around her--- from just a smile, to a big hug or if you were really lucky, you would have a big plate of her wonderful cooking.  I think that the Angels in Heaven were jealous of our Earth Angel and whisked her away to spend Eternity with them...sharing her laughter, her smiles and her stories.  

The Sky has a new Star --- that Star is Alicia.

El Señor tenga en su gloria a Doña Alicia, y les brinde esa paz y fortaleza  que viene de lo alto a todos los miembros de su familia.

I am forever grateful to have been raised by such a powerful, loving, wise woman as you Abuelita. To put into words the life that you gave to us is impossible but I will try. You taught me how to spell my name; even when I would always misspell it as Alexiz you would correct me with a smile and a laugh. You would wake up every single morning before we had to go to school to make us our licuados and always made sure we finished them. You made the greatest chiles rellenos I will ever have in my life. You inspired me to cook and inspire me still. But the most important thing you taught me was to be a man who lives by his word. A man who always loves and respects those around him. A man who loves and cares for his family. The words I live by that you gave Ruben and I. “Un hombre es feo, fuerte, y formal” I will love you until the end of time Abuelita. May God bless me with your presence again. 

Some people have their own car, they own properties, have investments, they have the latest material things. Mi Abuelita owned none of that. But what she did own was priceless. No money in the world could buy what she had. She owned a lot of wisdom, she owned life experience, she owned a whole bunch of faith and most of all she owned so much love! She was unfiltered, real at the core! She was my second mother! 
She taught me how to pray in Spanish. She taught me how to read and write in Spanish. She taught me how to be compassionate unto others, loyal to my family, forgiving when done wrong, and strong and brave when I was the one depended on. 
Mi hermoso cariño! 
You will be loved and missed forever! 
Te quiero para siempre, Abuelita Ali!
