Angel Manuel Ortiz, 79, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, at the residence he shared with his loving daughter, Alexandra. Born on December 20, 1946, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Angel Maria Ortiz and Rigoberta Amalbert Lopez. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in 1966 and was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam. By trade, Angel served as an electrician, estimator, and project manager for 30 years; and being a true blue Sagittarius, he also had a passion for photography, carpentry, and automobiles. A bit of a renaissance man, other passions involved cooking, playing guitar, sewing, bowling, an eclectic taste in music, keeping loved ones in stitches, and making strangers laugh even harder. He is survived by Alexandra and his son, Esteban, as well as his daughter’s husband, Julio and their three children, mother of his children, Edna Padilla, as well as a sister, Jo Smith, brother, Roberto Ortiz, many cousins, tíos, nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18, 2026 at noon with a 4 pm Memorial Service at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL.
