Born in Chicago, Illinois, Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the onset of the Vietnam War. At the age of 24, he met his forever love, JoAnne Audens, who he later married in August of 1965. They built a beautiful life together for almost 56 years where he is memorialized as the loving “Pops” to Anthony J. DiOrio (Tammy), James P. DiOrio (Michelle), Jodi A. DiOrio-Dornseif (William), Nickolas F. DiOrio (Wendy) and step-father to Glen Svagdis (Jan).
Tony’s legacy continues to live in his grandchildren as "Papa" to: Michael, Daniel, James Jr., Jesse, Kyle, Elisa, Emily, Jordan, Santino, Gabriella, and Natalie. He is also a great grandfather to Nikki Grey and beloved godfather to Danielle Giegoldt.
Tony was proud to have served for the Rosemont Police Department as a Sergeant for 30 plus years. He was honored to be on the Board of Directors as the Vice President of Pioneer Park in Wisconsin (his home away from home).
He is survived by sister Patricia Hoover (Bernard "Bun") of Kansas; preceded in death by father Pasquale (Patsy) DiOrio, mother Clara B. Durbin-Beyer, sisters Tina and Antoinette; many nieces and nephews and fond friend and neighbor to many.
Tony, Pops, Papa: With all duties here on earth fulfilled, your end of watch has come. As you finish your journey home continue as our guardian, our protector, our hero, and now our angel... as you always have in life, continue now in eternity until we can be with you again.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 14th at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W. Belmont Ave, Chicago, 3:00-8:00PM.
On Saturday, August 15th, family and friends are invited to participate in the procession to lay Tony in his final resting place at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. We are asking that everyone line up in the parking lot at the church (Our Lady of Hope in Rosemont) no later than 11:45AM, where you will be given a sticker to place in your car window. Grave side service weather permitting.
Due to a restricted number of allowed, personal invitations will be sent to attend the church service.
