Antonio Tovar Sr.

Antonio Tovar Sr., age 79, was born on June 13, 1946, in San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, and passed away on March 12, 2026, at 5:15 a.m. A devoted, faithful, generous, hard-working, humorous, loyal, kind-hearted, resilient, wise, and honest man, Antonio was truly beloved and cherished by all who had the honor of knowing him. He will be remembered as compassionate, inspirational, content, and enthusiastic—above all, a good father whose steady love and strength uplifted his family and community. After this introduction, Antonio will be lovingly remembered as Antonio.

Antonio was the most loving husband of Juana Tovar nee Castillo; the loving father of Antonio Tovar Jr. (Laura) Tovar, Sylvia (David) Hagberg, and the late Ricardo (Maria) Tovar; and the adoring grandfather of Julian, Adrian, Cristian and Gabriella Tovar, David, Jessica and Deanna Hagberg, Paulina, Ana and Ricardo Tovar. He was the dear son of the late Cayetano & Baldomera Tovar; the beloved brother of Nicolasa, Francisco, Jose Luis and Eva Tovar; an unforgettable uncle; a caring cousin; and a fond friend of many.

Antonio shared his love of Jesus to many. A pillar of faith and service, Antonio was a pioneer of Renovacion Carismatica Catolica of Our Lady of Grace Church and a steadfast member of the ministry that brought church members into a deeper relationship with Jesus. While working at the radio station Alabare, he openly prayed for anyone who called in with their petitions, offering encouragement and hope with sincerity and warmth. He also served as an organizer for conferences with Renovacion Carismatica Catolica, supporting the mission with reliability and dedication. As a Communion Minister, Antonio used to preach The Word of God to the congregation, sharing his faith with conviction and care. He was fondly remembered for testing his fellow members regarding their Bible studies—often surprising them with questions that were not covered during their studies—always urging others to go further, reach deeper, and strive beyond what was expected.

Antonio Sr. taught his family and children the value of hard work ethics and perseverance. His wife would like everyone to know that he was a loving husband, a good father, and a great example to everyone who knew him. He consistently encouraged his grandchildren to go above and beyond everything they did, often reminding them to do well—lifting them with both high expectations and deep affection.

One of Antonio’s favorite quotes to his grandchildren was: “Portense Bien”. Through every season of life, he remained RESILIENT and never gave up HOPE or lost FAITH. His legacy will live on in the strength he modeled, the laughter he shared, the prayers he offered, and the steadfast love he gave so freely.

Hombre devoto, fiel, generoso, trabajador, con sentido del humor, leal, bondadoso, resiliente, sabio y honesto, Antonio fue verdaderamente amado y apreciado por todos los que tuvieron el honor de conocerlo. Será recordado como compasivo, inspirador, satisfecho y entusiasta; sobre todo, como un buen padre cuyo amor y fortaleza constantes fortalecieron a su familia y comunidad. Antonio fue el amado esposo de Juana Tovar, de soltera Castillo; el amoroso padre de Antonio Tovar Jr. (Laura) Tovar, Sylvia (David) Hagberg y el difunto Ricardo (María) Tovar; Antonio fue el adorado abuelo de Julian, Adrian, Cristian y Gabriella Tovar, David, Jessica y Deanna Hagberg, Paulina, Ana y Ricardo Tovar. Hijo de los difuntos Cayetano y Baldomera Tovar; querido hermano de Nicolasa, Francisco, Jose Luis y Eva Tovar; un tío inolvidable; un primo cariñoso; y un entrañable amigo de muchos.

Antonio compartió su amor por Jesús con muchos. Pilar de fe y servicio, Antonio fue pionero de la Renovación Carismática Católica de la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de Gracia y un miembro incondicional del ministerio que guiaba a los feligreses a una relación más profunda con Jesús. Mientras trabajaba en la estación de radio Alabare, oraba abiertamente por quienes llamaban con sus peticiones, ofreciendo aliento y esperanza con sinceridad y calidez. También se desempeñó como organizador de conferencias de la Renovación Carismática Católica, apoyando la misión con confiabilidad y dedicación. Como ministro de la Comunión, Antonio predicaba la Palabra de Dios a la congregación, compartiendo su fe con convicción y cariño.
