

Arnold Van Puymbroeck, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026, at the age of 95, leaving a legacy of love, service and devotion to family and community.
Born in Belgium, Arnold immigrated to the United States in 1952 in pursuit of new opportunities. That same year, he married his childhood sweetheart Lea Verhulst. Together they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage, creating cherished traditions that continue to live on through the generations they nurtured.
Arnold was the proud father of Gene (Barbara); grandfather of Jason and Chad (Alnierys); great-grandfather of Jason Jr. and Josephina. His family was the center of his world.
Following the passing of his beloved wife Lea, Arnold was fortunate to find companionship once again. Later in life, he shared 25 cherished years with his partner Irene Donash and she remained an important part of his life.
While Arnold was not the largest man in stature, he always had the biggest personality in the room. He had a remarkable gift for making people laugh and was loved by all.
Arnold's impact extended far beyond his family. A proud Belgian American, he devoted decades to preserving and celebrating his Belgian heritage while strengthening ties between Belgium and the United States.
- Knighted in 1974 in the Order of Leopold II one of Belgium's most distinguished civilian honors
- Served as president of the Belgian American Club for 20 years.
- In 1958 Chartered the first flight to Belgium for the community
- Member of the Northwest Rotary Club for 20 years and served as President 2000-2001
-President of the Belgian Bow and Arrow Club of Chicago 1958-1988
Arnold touched countless lives and left an enduring mark on all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Ave, Chicago, IL, on June 7, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Final Viewing will take place at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Ave, Chicago, IL, on June 8, 2026, from 9:00 am to 9:30 am.
Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Ita Catholic Church, 5500 N Broadway, Chicago, IL, on June 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Committal & Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, 4001 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60613, on June 8, 2026
