

Atallah Shafic Hindeleh of Elk Grove Village, died peacefully on April 21, 2025 from complications due to Parkinson’s. Atallah was born to Shafic and Ellen Hindeleh on April 12, 1942 in Yafa, Palestine. At the age of six, his family was forced to relocate to Beirut, Lebanon where he spent the remainder of his childhood years. In search of education and opportunity, he bravely left his home to pursue a degree in electrical engineering in the United States. While on summer holiday in Beirut, he met the light of his life, Nadia Khoury. The two of them married in St. Louis, MO and raised their family in Onalaska, WI. He dedicated many years of his life to a successful career at Heileman Brewing Co. alongside being a leader, choir director, and treasurer of St. Elias Orthodox Church in La Crosse, WI.
Atallah was a pioneer and patriarch for his family. His magnetic personality, witty humor, and gigantic heart brought people together and forged lifelong, meaningful relationships. His presence will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him, and to have been loved by him.
He is predeceased by his parents, his in-laws George & Aida Khoury, his siblings Charlie & Marina, his cousins Raouf & George, his niece, Gloria, and his nephew, Andrew. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nadia, his adoring children Raphi (Katie) & Rina (Steve), his cherished granddaughters Yasmine & Jamila, his siblings, Nitsa & Elias (Sue), his niece Annie (Brian), many cousins, and other beloved family and friends.
Services will be held at Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines, IL on Monday, April 28. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm at St. Lazarus Greek Orthodox chapel with a private family funeral immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you follow in Atallah’s footsteps and help those who are not as fortunate.
