I'll always remember my mother-in-law, Barbara, as one funny lady who loved her children with a ferocity. Her always red-lipped smile could light up a room and she could hold an audience with her dry, "did-she-just-say-that?" sense of humor.
When I look at these photos from all the many years of love flowing through the Bernacki and Aincham family, I'm reminded of how it felt to become a part of this special Chicago Polish/Italian fold; lots of laughs, no pretensions, memories exchanged freely of all those who had tragically left this world far too soon, and Barbara always at the center of all of it with her sly smile.
I will miss her, as I know Jim, Claudia and Henry will feel her loss intensely as well. But, I feel lucky to have known her; to have experienced the cash pocket in her bra from which she pulled dollars exuberantly to share with the children; an example of her irresistible eccentricity that endeared her to everyone who knew her.
Rest in peace dear Gramma B, and may you and Stanley, the tall, dashing guy you never stopped loving, be finally reunited in eternal love forever.

Love, Patricia
