Barbara Hunt, 75, of River Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2026. Barbara was born in Plonsk, Poland to Genowefa and Edmund Szadkowski. Barbara cherished nothing more in life than family. She was a devoted and loving mother. She was incredibly generous to those around her. Her grandchildren, Lana and Tessa, were her greatest treasures. What saddened her most was that she would not be able to see them grow up. But her memory will always live on in them.
Barbara always had a love of fashion, ever since she was little. She loved a good shopping trip with friends and family, and loved to spoil her grandchildren. A great listener, she would always lend an ear to all. She was very generous and believed in enjoying life to the fullest. When she moved to Chicago from Poland, she fell in love with the city. She lived for the hustle and bustle of Chicago, and was a master at utilizing public transportation. Education was always a priority, whether it be reading up on current events or making sure her daughter did her homework. She also made sure to pass down her sweet tooth to the next generation.
Barbara loved her daughter, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends so much. Family was always most important to her, and her heart will always be carried on by those she loved so much. Her love will live on daily inside those closest to her.
Barbara is survived by her beloved daughter Alexandra (Marcin Kania) Hunt; and cherished grandchildren Lana and Tessa Kania. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Danuta Szadkowska, Wieslawa Siegieda, and Waldemar Szadkowski.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, October 20, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Memorial Service at 5:00 pm located at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60634.
