Carlos loved life to the fullest. He loved Chicago and everything the city had to offer. A devout Chicago Bears and Cubbies fan, loyal to a fault. He taught his son Matthew to be the same. They enjoyed many good times together at Wrigley and every Sunday when the Bears played, we knew where they would be!
Passionate about education he taught English and other subjects early on in Chicago. He loved the law and was always advocating in some way for equality and human rights. Carlos had a master's degree and a true belief that knowledge was power. He always encouraged his daughters to be strong, independent women.
If you knew our dad- you knew he was a jokester and prankster who relished in bringing laughter to every room he entered. He loved a good debate and his insatiable desire for some good banter left a mark on everyone who participated! He loved real Christmas trees, making breakfast for his family on his days off. He loved music and singing a few of his favorites were Frank Sinatra, The Three Tenors, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Motown. He loved Chicago's lakefront and to swim; he loved spring and sunshine and told wonderful stories of visiting the beaches of Mazatlan as a boy. He would describe the blue and clear waters and delighted as the horses trotted by. As a hopeless romantic Carlos loved the movies so much that he named his daughters after the movie "Sabrina" and the actress Jennifer O'Neil. John Wayne was his hero and one of the reasons he immigrated to the United States. He truly loved America and all its' promise telling his children how they were born in the greatest country in the world!! He loved his wife, children and adored his grandchildren.
He lived on his terms and died on his terms. He absolutely did it his way ...
