With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved Carmen on May 24, 2026. Carmen was the heart and soul of her family — a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, proud big sister, and aunt to many who loved her dearly. Her warmth, strength, and generosity touched countless lives, and her presence brought comfort and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Carmen dedicated much of her life to helping others. She worked for the phone company for over 20 years before continuing her career at the University of Illinois Chicago, where she served as a coordinator assisting disabled children and their families in finding the care, support, and equipment they needed. She approached this work with compassion, patience, and a genuine desire to make life better for others.
She had a deep love for music, cooking, laughter, and bringing people together. Carmen’s home was always filled with love, delicious meals, and unforgettable memories. She enjoyed
traveling and experiencing new places, creating treasured moments with her family that will live on forever.
Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Carmelo; her sons, Luis, Adan, and Daniel; her four loving daughters-in-law, Barbie, Christina, Evelyn, and Tamara who were the daughters she never birthed; and her beloved grandchildren, Angela, Christian, Aden, Justin, Esai,
Thaedeus, Mahryna, the late Destiny, and bonus grandchildren Isabella & Maxwell. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will continue to carry her love and memory in their hearts.
Though she is no longer with us, Carmen’s spirit, kindness, and unwavering love will forever remain a guiding light for her family. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
