

Carmen was born on September 12, 1937, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico, and later made Chicago her home. She was married to Maximo Rosario, with whom she shared five wonderful children.
Carmen was known for her incredible strength and resilience, facing life’s hardships with unwavering faith and determination. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she poured her heart into her family and was the foundation of their lives. She was an amazing cook whose kitchen was always filled with warmth, laughter, and delicious meals. Her servant’s heart and gift of hospitality touched everyone who crossed her threshold. Carmen loved unconditionally and gave selflessly, living out her belief that love is best shown through service.
Carmen is survived by her husband Maximo; her beloved children, Sandra Spurgeon and her husband Gerald Spurgeon of Chicago, IL, and their children Julio Martinez, Blake Spurgeon, and Samantha Spurgeon; Nancy Rosario of Chicago, IL, and her children Melissa Garcia and Dale White; David Rosario of Chicago, IL; Irma Rosario of Kenosha, WI, and her children Jennifer Klosinski (nee' Zacarias) and her husband Matthew Klosinski, Nicole Stankiewicz (nee' Zacarias) and her husband Korey Stankiewicz, and Kaitlyn Zacarias. She is also survived by her nine cherished great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and laughter. Carmen was preceded in death by her son, Jose Rosario. She will be forever remembered by her family and friends for her love, faith, and the warmth she brought to every life she touched.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 12:00 PM at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60634. Entombment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery, 3800 North Narragansett Avenue, Chicago, IL 60634.
Carmen will be deeply missed but remembered always for her unconditional love and the joy she brought to our family.
