Chris Chamopoulos

Chris was born in Garea, Greece and immigrated to Chicago in 1951. He initially worked for his uncle and learned the restaurant business, and quickly went on to own multiple restaurants throughout his career. He took great pride in his family, friends and employees and cherished the time he spent with them. He lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and integrity. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be remembered for his strength of character, generosity, selflessness and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

He is survived by his wife Helen of 65 years, his son Gus (Ellen) Chamopoulos, daughter Anna O’Donnell, his sisters, Catherine (late John) Antonakis and Connie (late Angelo) Christophell, and his sister-in-law Kathy Chamopoulos. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Tommy, his parents Konstantinos and Anna Chiamopoulos, and brothers George (Pat) Chiamopoulos, Nick (Angela) Chiamopoulos, and William Chamopoulos.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church or The Greater Chicago Food Depository (www.chicagofoodbank.org) in Memory of Chris Chamopoulos, if desired. Visitation will be held at Holy Taxiarhai & St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 N Caldwell Ave, Niles, IL 60714, US, on August 3, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Religious Ceremony at the same location from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will take place at Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2905 North Thatcher Road, River Grove, IL 60171, US, on August 3, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
