I was thinking about Chris today. It remains sad that such a young and loving heart was taken so soon. He was a charter member of the Uncle Hulka tribe who had fun, fun, fun, decades ago. He will be missed. My heart goes out to the Ford family upon losing such a wonderful man.

Chris was my first true basketball coach at St. Gregory Elementary School. He started coaching us in 5th grade and carried us through to 8th grade. We have so many great memories with Chris: rides with the top down, celebratory meals (IHOP, Baker's Square), his unique pants, Scumbag drills, silly nicknames, and so much more. He took the time out recently to get together with Terri, Lea, Kristine and I, and he was full of life, love, and great advice. We had been planning another get together this fall. I remember the last day I saw him, I had ditched choir practice at St. Greg's so that I could meet up with him and the crew (I am so glad I did!)! When the choir director unexpectedly showed up at our restaurant, Chris properly explained to Patrick who he was to me, and how he hadn't seen me in so long. He defended my choice to ditch choir for him, and I will always remember that (and all the great memories we had with Chris). Until we meet again, coach! Miss you. Barb

Coach Chris...I had the pleasure of knowing this amazing man when I was in grade school basketball. Other than being a great coach, he was great support and leader. May you rest in peace.

I worked with Chris at St. Benedict for years and I was always lifted up in spirit every time I saw or chatted with him. He was so willing to give and seek nothing in return.. A real man! Karl Kuhn Chicago

My heart goes out to the entire Ford family. I worked with Chris at Checkers, and have a lot of great memories. I would have to say the best times we had together were those Friday afternoons at Wrigley (and I'm not even a Cubs fan). He was kind, generous and funny. Rest in peace, Christopher

I worked with Chris at Checkers Simon & Rosner in the late 1980's. I believe I got him into coaching when he helped me with a boys YMCA basketball team. He was a great guy who will be missed. My heart and prayers go out to the Ford family.
