Born in Chicago, the cherished son of the late Arnold and Grace (Orlowski-Orr) Osborne, Dave was a loving and beloved husband, brother and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of 52-1/2 years, Elaine (Kanonik) Osborne, his brothers and sisters John Osborne, Bernadette and Robert Kanonik and Donna (William) Kaatz, along with nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces David A., Kevin (Ranà) and Marc (Jen) Osborne and Carolyn, Jason (Kelly Tang) and Stephen (Olivia) Kaatz, John and Jaysen Osborne, Gabriel, Angela and Graham Kaatz. Besides his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his parents-in-law Stephen and Helen (Pajak) Kanonik, brother Stephen Kanonik and sister-in-law Marie (Stablein) Osborne.
Dave had many professions throughout his life, from radio announcer and talk show host to advertising and later, golf tech, all of which grew out of his wide and varied interests.
Dave was proud to be a two-day Jeopardy Champion and remained a faithful viewer of the show.
He loved music, both listening and creating it. He was a skilled guitarist and lyricist and a big fan of the Beatles. Besides performing music, he was a member of a stand-up comedy team with his wife, Elaine, and an ensemble member of improv comedy groups and community rep companies in Sterling, IL and Casper, WY.
Dave enjoyed sports, especially baseball and golf. He was thrilled to be able to see his Cubs win the World Series in his lifetime. While golf was a mid-life interest, he embraced it wholeheartedly and spent many happy hours on the golf course, often with his nephew Jason, who he introduced to the game.
He loved retirement, vacations and travel. Dave looked forward to annual family vacations in Mercer and developed a deep love of world travel after a trip to Paris.
Most of all, Dave will be remembered for his love for family. He was always there, impacting everyone with his wit, quiet support and presence. A skilled conversationalist, Dave could draw out family history and stories from the most reticent relatives.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
