Dolores Eileen Durack

Dolores Eileen Durack, age 80, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. Dolores was born September 14, 1941. Beloved mother of Lisa Durack (Paul Burchard), Linda Durack (Kemal Kelemet), Lacey Durack (Greig Sheldon). Cherished grandmother to Will Burchard, Hayden Burchard (Allison Burchard), Yaman Kelemet, Ayse Kelemet, Deniz Kelemet, Mae Durack and John Durack; and adored great grandmother to Bodhi Burchard. Loved sister to William Kranz (Sandy Caron), Margaret Gallagher (James Gallagher) and the late Thomas Kranz, John Kranz and James Kranz. She is predeceased by her parents Frank Kranz and Lillian nee Walsh. She was much loved and will be missed by her life-long friends Diane Walsh, Cathy Land, Terry Cesar.

She completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Chicago State University, earning a Masters of Arts in Education. She had a long career as an English and Reading Specialist, educating junior college students of the Chicagoland area.

She was a prolific reader and a beautiful writer, she loved to write poetry. She always had to have a book in her hand, a cup of tea by her side and a cigarette to relax. She was quick to laugh, and always looked for the humour in a moment. She was passionate about yoga, bike riding, race walking and dancing. She loved to cook and host dinner parties and family dinners, entertaining was always enjoyable for her. She was a fit and beautiful woman, inside and out. Throughout her life she was selflessly dedicated to her family, as they were the most important part of her life.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N Western Ave, Chicago IL 60625, on Monday, November 15, 2021 from 4-7pm. A Memorial Service will begin at 7pm.
