Edda Maria Sifuentes

Edda was born on September 17, 1955, in Managua, Nicaragua. She was the beloved wife of Humberto Sifuentes Sr., with whom she shared 46 beautiful years of marriage, having wed on September 30, 1978. Together, they built a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering support for their family.

Edda dedicated her professional life to the dental field, where she served as Lead Dental Assistant and Office Manager. She was known for her exceptional work ethic, kindness, and dedication to helping others. Her colleagues and patients alike admired her commitment and warm, welcoming spirit.

Above all, Edda was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. She was the most loving, caring, devoted, nurturing, genuine, resilient, and supportive person, always putting the needs of others before her own. She cherished spending time with her family, and her greatest joy came from creating a warm and loving home. Edda’s generous heart and nurturing soul left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. She was beloved by all who knew her.

Edda is survived by her husband, Humberto Sifuentes Sr.; her sons, Humberto Sifuentes Jr. (Namita Mohanty) and Ronald Sifuentes; her sister, Carolina Aich; her brother, Milciades Somarriba; her niece, Layla Hidalgo, who was like a daughter to her; and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edda Hidalgo and Milciades Enrique Somarriba, and her brother, Ivan Hidalgo.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Edda’s life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy (4432 N Troy St, Chicago, IL 60625). Following the service, a reception will take place at Drake & Son Funeral Home (5303 North Western Ave, Chicago, IL 60625) at 12:15 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America in Edda’s honor.

Edda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, love, and generosity will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
