Edith Maerene Allegrezza, age 107, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025. A woman whose life spanned more than a century, Edith lived with grace, joy, and an unwavering love for her family and friends. Her remarkable longevity was matched only by the warmth she shared with those lucky enough to know her.
Edith was the beloved wife of the late Harry Allegrezza and a devoted mother to her children, Randy Cooper Allegrezza and Christine Rene (Charles Hatton) Ott. She was the cherished daughter of the late William and Bertha Cooper and was preceded in death by her siblings: the late Helen (Cyle) Davis, Clayton William (Mary) Cooper, Paul Cooper, and Harriet (Chester) Swienton.
A loving aunt, caring cousin, and true friend, Edith’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her ability to brighten any room, and her compassionate spirit, made her unforgettable to countless family members and friends.
Throughout her life, Edith maintained a passion for living to the fullest. She was an avid line dancer, enjoying every step with a zest for life that was contagious. She found peace and joy in her ceramics, playing the piano, and listening to music. Edith also enjoyed bowling, working, ballroom dancing, and indulging in her creative side through needlepoint.
Travel was another of Edith's great pleasures, as she cherished the opportunity to explore new places and create memories with her loved ones.
Edith’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her laughter, kind heart, and ability to make everyone feel like family will never be forgotten.
