

She was the beloved wife for 57 years of her late husband Herman Marcelo Vela. She is also predeceased by her sisters Genoveva, Conception, and Eulalia.
She is survived by her sister in Ecuador Alicia Montalvo, many nieces and nephews, and a large extended family and friends.
She was born in Quito, Ecuador on April 22, 1935. She moved to the U.S.A. in 1963. She worked many years at Chase Bank. After retirement she worked at the Consulate of Ecuador for many years.
To know Elba was to love her and be loved by her. Simply stated, she would do anything for anyone. She was kind-hearted, warm, sweet, caring, thoughtful, always smiling, generous, compassionate, and liked to make others happy.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation on Monday, June 15, 2026 from 10 AM - 12 PM at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, 60625. A Funeral service will then take place at 12 PM noon at the funeral home. Elba will be laid to rest immediately following at Mount Olive Cemetery, 3800 North Narragansett Ave, Chicago, IL 60634.
