He was born in Amritsar, Punjab in India on July 8, 1948. While pastoring in India, he also taught at the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary and was a reader for a Christian radio program. After five years, he immigrated to the United States to attend Covenant Theological Seminary and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO where he received a Master of Divinity, A Master of Arts in Biblical Studies, as well as a Master of Sacred Theology.
Following seminary, he moved to Chicago with his wife Sheela Singh. He worked as a social worker for Catholic Charities for 14 years while starting a church ministering to the Indian and Pakistani community now known as Indo-Pak United Methodist Church, where he served until his passing. During his ministry, he also served Ravenswood United Methodist Church, Grace United Methodist Church and West Ridge United Methodist Church.
He is remembered for his wise yet humble leadership, generosity of spirit, his love for God and his impact on countless lives. Everyone he met he treated as family and many considered him a mentor, advisor and father figure. He left a lasting legacy for those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Sheela, his sons Ashish (Sabrina) and Anand (Emma), and grandchildren Nathan and Natalie.
Due to the current pandemic, the funeral was limited to family.
