Evelyn Funk Friedman

Evelyn Funk Friedman, daughter of Bernard and Mary Hannon Funk, both deceased, grew up in the rural community of Earl Park. Indiana. She was the beloved wife of Sidney Friedman for thirty-nine-years. Their romance only became more enhanced as the years passed. Evelyn would often say how much she liked just looking over and seeing Sidney sitting in his chair.

She had three step-children, all of Daytona Beach, all deceased: Mala Needham, Sheryl Pratt, and Robert Friedman.

She is survived by five siblings, James B. Funk of La Paz, Bolivia, Sr. Mary Margaret Funk O.S.B. of Our Lady of Grace Monastery, Beech Grove, IN, Edward Funk, Indianapolis, IN, Carolyn Benner, Indianapolis, IN, and Kevin (Laura Klauberg) Funk of Weston, CT. She is also survived by six nieces and a nephew: Natasha Funk, Karina (Kurt Hanson) Funk, Nicholas (Kira Davis) Funk, Mary Ann (Brian) Davis, Rosie (Todd Hamilton) Funk, Katie Funk, Julianne (Mark Murray) Funk.

Evelyn, who held a M.A. degree in Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago, excelled working in various professional pursuits: the Chicago Catholic School Office, McMillan McGraw Hill textbook company, and the Education Office of the State of Illinois. Where she really excelled was on a day-by-day basis helping anyone in need. She lived in the same northside Chicago building all her married years and was known and loved as its matriarch. She will be greatly missed by all her neighbors and was deeply loved by her family.
