Fernando was born on June 10, 1965, in Coacoyula de Álvarez, Guerrero, Mexico, to Guillermina Mota and the late Raúl Herrera. At the age of 14, Fernando moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he would build the life and legacy that would become so deeply rooted in his family and community. He attended Andersen Elementary School and later Roberto Clemente High School.
Fernando dedicated 26 years of his life to Continental Web, where he built a career through years of hard work and dedication. But while his career was an important part of his life, his true full-time job was being a family man. His greatest pride was always his family, and he devoted his life to providing for, protecting, supporting, and loving them.
Fernando was the beloved husband of María Eugenia Cerón and the proud father of Cynthia Herrera, Karina Herrera, Victoria Herrera, Alexa Herrera, and Yvette Herrera. He was a loving grandfather to Jaden Lee LoRusso, Katelynn Arielle Carvajal, Alysson Velazquez, Laurynn Isabelle Carvajal, Michael Jr. Carvajal, Jovi Fernando Zavala, Natalia Rhea Zavala, and Leo Alexander Carvajal.
He was a cherished brother to Raúl Herrera, Andres Herrera, Gabriela Herrera, Ruben Herrera, Yuridia Herrera, Yolanda Herrera, Juan Miranda, Edgar Herrera, Guadalupe Galindo, and Samuel Jr. Galindo, as well as a beloved relative and friend to many who will forever feel his absence.
Fernando was known for the loving, joyful energy he brought into every room. He was funny, charming, warmhearted, and always ready to make someone laugh. He had a generous heart and was the kind of person who never hesitated to help someone in need. His kindness extended far beyond his immediate family. Fernando cared deeply for his friends, neighbors, and community.
To those who knew him, Fernando was more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was the backbone of his family. He was their provider, their protector, their source of strength, and someone they could always count on. He gave so much of himself to the people he loved, asking for little in return.
His greatest legacy will not be measured by the years he worked or the things he accomplished, but by the love he gave so freely. The memories he created, the laughter he shared, the people he helped, and the love he poured into his family will continue through every generation that follows him.
Though his passing leaves an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, his spirit will live on in his children, grandchildren, family, friends, and in everyone whose life he touched.
Fernando’s love will forever be engraved in our hearts. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and endlessly loved.
Forever our family’s heart.
Forever in our hearts.
