It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Filiberto Gonzalez, 89, at his home in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by his family. He was born in El Josefino de Allende, Jalisco, Mexico, to Hipolito and Octaviana Gonzalez. Before his retirement, Filiberto devoted more than 25 years to his work as a mechanic at Bee Bindery in Chicago. Blessed with clever hands and a curious mind, he was an inventor and a handyman who could fix just about anything. In his later years, he found quiet joy in feeding and watching the birds outside his window.
Filiberto is survived by his beloved wife of more than 57 years, Faustina Gonzalez. He was the loving and inspiring father of three children, Edwin Gonzalez, Lidia Gonzalez, Marisol Gonzalez, and father-in-law of Angelica Gonzalez.
He was the proud grandfather of Dezirae, Julian, Preston, Chayanne, and Prisilla Gonzalez (Edwin’s children); Tiffany Gonzalez (Lidia’s daughter); and Camila Gonzalez (Marisol’s daughter). The cherished brother of six siblings, he is survived by his older sister, Maria Gonzalez.
The family extends special thanks to the relatives and friends who went above and beyond to provide his daily care during his time of greatest need.
Filiberto will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his many family members and friends.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in his memory on Friday, October 23, 2026, from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, IL 60646.
