Denny graduated from Amherst College in 1955, was a Fulbright Scholar at Cambridge University in 1956, and received a law degree from the University of Chicago in 1959. He married Linda Moyer in 1957 and had three children: Polly, Kate, and Greg. Denny was a dedicated lawyer at Mayer Brown & Platt, served as the chairman of the board at Michael Reese Hospital, was a board member of Reading is Fundamental, and President of the Alumni Association at U of C Law School.
Although a traumatic brain injury prematurely ended Denny’s professional career in 2002, he continued to have a passionate love of learning, academia, and law. In the years following the accident his recovery was aided by his wife, his children and a team of dedicated caregivers: Russell Ortega, Lawrence Lambo, and Chris Lacson. He retained a deep appreciation of all things Chicago: the symphony, the Lyric Opera, the White Sox, Frango Mints, Lake Michigan, and the city’s architecture. He is predeceased by sister, Barbara Marks, and is survived by his sister, Susie Wood, three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Michael Reese Health Trust https://wearemichaelreese.org/donate/.
