George Zbysiu Basinski

George Zbysiu Basinski, Veteran Korean War. Beloved husband of 57 years to Barbara, nee Polak. Devoted father of Eva (Steven) East, Terri (Greg) Ring and Anna Basinski. Loving Dziadzia of Lauren and Michelle East, and Samantha and Alexandra Ring. Supportive brother-in-law to Krystyna Ziemlo, Maria Dudziak and Wojtek Polak and family in Poland. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Passed away peacefully at age 84. Born Oct. 22, 1927 in Lublin, Poland. Graduated from Hamburg University, Germany. Immigrated to U.S. in 1949. Proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954, served in the reserves and was honorably discharged in 1958. Worked as an electrical engineer at Jefferson Electric for 30 years. His life was filled with his family, good times with friends, a glass of Scotch and a good cigar. Preceded in death by his parents Helena Dempska and Waclaw Basinski; sisters Daniela Brzezicka, Ivona Piechota and brother Waclaw Basinski. Funeral Saturday 10 am at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 N. Milwaukee Ave. Interment Maryhill Cemetery. Visitation Friday 3 – 9 pm. Memorials to American Heart Assoc. appreciated. (773) 774-4100.
