Greg was the son of James H. and Joan M. Shives of Macedonia, Ohio, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his siblings Geoffrey Shives, Kimberlynn Timbers, and Katherine Lingo (Dan); and many nieces and nephews.
He earned his undergraduate degree from Kent State University before continuing on to receive a Master’s degree in Human Resources from Loyola University Chicago.
After many years in executive positions at other major insurance companies, Greg joined Amwins Insurance Group, LLC in 2005.
Greg Shives left an incredible impact on the wholesale insurance industry in his final role of Vice President, Operations & Administration, with Amwins. He most recently celebrated his 20th year of service with Amwins. He was an incredibly dedicated, steadfast, and exemplary leader for the Chicago Brokerage Operations as well as the Amwins Midwest Region. He supported many facets of operations, not limited to: Administration, Human Resources, Compliance & Regulatory expertise, real estate, mergers & acquisitions, committee development, and helping to serve and foster employee experience and celebrations. He made a remarkable impact as a close confidant and friend to his many Amwins colleagues.
Greg was one of the founding directors of AdoptaBull, a non-profit organization devoted to rescuing English Bulldogs and placing them in foster homes until permanent families could be found. He served for many years as treasurer for the National Bulldog Club of America Rescue Network.
He turned his passion into enterprise by founding BulldogDepot, an online store offering bulldog-themed merchandise and homemade treats crafted by Greg himself in his own kitchen.
