Aunt Helen,

You were a blessing in my life. You I could always talk to about anything. You use to babysit me. You would tell me stories of things you got to do. It felt when I was little I was wanted adventures.  

I'm trying not to cry writing this but I know you knew I loved you very much. I will miss the calls about where are your keys.  You said, I was always right, even when I moved to a different state. I wish I could get more calls like that. Also, telling my mom about a certain moving. I will always love you so very much!!!

We are so saddened to lose Helen after only knowing her a little while, but her life was so full of activity, love for family and friends that she will never be forgotten. The shopping trip to the big city to help Erika choose her beautiful wedding gown was one we will treasure. Our hearts are with all the family and Helen's many friends. What a beautiful legacy of life she leaves behind in the lives of her children, grandchildren and all those who love her so much. 

My favorite memory of Helen is when my daughter, Denise, became very sick.  I was a total mess and the doctors were putting her through many tests.  We didn’t have the internet just the good old trust-worthy library.  I was at the library every day for hours trying to help myself understand what was happening to her when I should have been at my desk and crying while looking up her condition.   All the time spent away from my desk and the days at the hospitals for tests and doctor visits were all understood by my kind-hearted supervisor, Helen Follmer.  Helen was always at my side to guide me and give me moral support through this most difficult time in my life.  Thank God everything turned out well for my daughter.  Helen and I became the best of friends for more than 30 years and we had many many good times together.  I was truly blessed to have Helen in my life. She was understanding of what I was going through. Thank you my dear friend for all the laughs, the tears, the worries,  the debates and for just being you Helen! That’s what friends are for, right?  It was way too soon to say goodbye.  May  you rest in Our Dear Lord’s Home of Peace with your family.  Miss you a lot Helen!  Love Jan

I was blessed to call Helen my friend for 60 years. I’ve never known anyone kinder, more generous or understanding.  She shared all the times of my life, and I’ll miss her always

I am so sorry to hear of Helen's recent death.  I became her English 'pen-pal'  way back in the 1960's when we were teenagers, and we were mad on the Beatles!   I always looked forward to getting letters from Helen and hearing about her life in Chicago.  She visited us twice here is Gloucestershire, England, with her good friend Andrea.  My husband Brian met up with them when he was in Chicago on business but sadly I never got to America.    
You must all feel devastated at the moment, and I send you my heartfelt sympathy for your loss.    Angela x
