Henry Dayton Stauffer III, 79, of Chicago IL passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2022. Born February 8th, 1942. Adored son of Henry and Bernice “Dolly”; treasured brother of Bonnie (Tom) Panunzio. Beloved husband of 44 years to Barbara, née Hagedorn. Devoted father of Alison, Amy (Sam) Johnson, and Carolyn. Cherished grandfather of Gwendolyn, Genevieve, Lincoln, Eleanor, and Fiona. Admired uncle to Lea (Quinn) Regan and Vicki Pokorny. Mentor and father-figure to many, including Robert Castillo and David O’Brien. Retired Chicago Public School teacher of 30 years. Henry loved his wife and family dearly. He always spoke his mind, laughed at his own jokes, and loved eating sweets. He enjoyed bowling, time at the casinos, and was an avid hunter. Taken before his time, our world, now a little less special, is changed forever. The family will host visitation on Monday January 24th from 5 to 7pm, with a service at 6pm at Drake and Son Funeral Home on 5303 N. Western. Interment at Acacia Park Cemetery will be private. Henry loved his dogs and considered them family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Midwest Labrador Retriever Rescue using the link below.
