Huong Mau Thai

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Huong Mau Thai. He died at age 66 on July 8th, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois. Mau passed away surrounded by his loved ones and is survived by his wife Ghek Ching Leav and son Christopher Thai.

Mau lived his life to the fullest – from traveling to Cambodia every year to eating delicious steak at the best restaurants in Chicago to playing Mahjong with his good friends, he certainly never took life for granted. Mau’s presence in a room immediately lifted people’s spirits and resulted in immense laughter. Besides traveling, eating good food, and playing Mahjong, Mau also loved spending time in the backyard, often turning just a few flowers into an entire garden of unbelievable beauty. Much like scattered seeds, memories of him will continue to bloom forever.

The family is not asking for any flowers or gifts, but if you would like to pay your respects, friends and family will gather for visitation services for Mau that will be held on Wednesday, July 12th at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60625 from 3PM - 8PM.
