Born on September 26, 1932 in Alhue, a small town in his beloved Chile, Nacho grew up racing handmade carts down rocky hills and swimming in the river near his home. Ignacio left home at the age of 12 to enter the seminary in Talagante. These were hard times for Nacho and marked the end of his living with his parents and family. “Maybe,” he would recall, “God was preparing me to leave home and see the world.” Nacho later became a professor of theology, music, philosophy, among other subjects. His path changed when he met the love of his life, Anilda, in Puerto Rico. Ignacio and Anilda married and moved to Chicago in 1968 where Nacho found work as a carpenter at Wieboldt’s and Parliament. Wherever he worked or lived, Nacho made friends, habitually inviting everyone over for a cafecito and good conversation.
Survived by his loving wife Anilda of 58 years and his children, Angie, Diana, Jeanette, and Brian, his six beloved grandchildren, and so many cherished family members. Papi, we will forever miss you.
