James R. Angel, 77, passed away on July 21, 2021. Beloved and devoted husband to Shirley née McGhee of fifty-three years. Adored brother to Genine (Wes) Serfoss, and loving uncle to Erin, Jody and Jennifer. He is predeceased by his parents, Wilmer and Ruby Angel. He regarded Camille Lozano and her son, Marcus Schmidt as family; referring to them lovingly as his first and second babies.
He was a professional jazz drummer in his youth, and continued that passion for the rest of his life while working in other industries. He was a collector of musical equipment, drums in particular, chess sets and tobacco pipes which he very much enjoyed smoking. Yet above all of his interests, he was a steadfast and supportive husband to the love of his life, Shirley.
He was truly a kind and generous man who will be missed by all for his compassion and care.
A Gathering of Life Celebration will be held on July 24, from 1-5pm at Montclair Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W Belmont Ave, Chicago IL, 60634.
