

Janice Marie Spitz (nee Sala), 84, passed away on May 31, 2023, in Sun City Center, Florida. Jan was born on September 9, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois to John and Louise Sala. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nickolas A. Spitz, parents, sisters, Emily Taylor (Paul) and Hilda Hoard (Ted), and her former husband, Frank L. McGinnis.
Jan is survived by her daughters, Sandra L. Scott (Brian), Lisa Briscoe (Bill), Sharon Suggs (Ray), and Susan McGinnis, her grandchildren, John M. Scott, Michael J. Scott (Caitlin), Justin Suggs (Abby), Reilly M. Scott, and Jordan Suggs, and great-grandchildren, Ryker J. Scott and Henryk H. Scott. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Jan was a furniture liquidation sales lady extraordinaire and Avon Sales Person McConnell Level before she retired. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center, Florida. Jan enjoyed playing tennis with the "pink ladies" and welcomed everyone to join the tennis association. She maintained friendships with the “club girls” for over 70 years. She was also a former Girl Scout Troop Leader #655 for many years. Jan loved traveling, playing bingo, shuffleboard, cornhole and participating in anything her grandkids expressed an interest in. She also enjoyed walking, doing word search puzzles, playing cards and spending time outdoors.
Whether Jan was vacationing in Marco Island, on one of her many cruise adventures, hosting Christmas parties, enjoying her neighbors from the Waterford Ridge HOA, spending time at Busch Gardens or in another country, her charisma and welcoming persona always attracted others, and she made many long-lasting connections. She will truly be missed by all those who knew her.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 15th, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Andrew J. McGann, 10727 South Pulaski Road, Chicago, Illinois 60655. Prayers will occur Friday, June 16th, 2023 at 9:15 AM, at Andrew J. McGann Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 10621 South Kedvale Avenue, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453.
