Jerry Dytko passed peacefully in his sleep on December 20, 2022. He will be dearly missed by his life companion of nearly 40 years, Charlotte Sadowski and her daughters Jaclyn Hastings (Cory Groom) and Jolanta Smith (Brian Daughtery). Though he had no children of his own, he was like a father to Jaclyn and Jolanta as well as a grandfather to Jessica Smith and Kevin Smith.
Charlotte and Jerry spent nearly every Saturday with a new adventure. They took long drives exploring new destinations in Wisconsin and Illinois then they rested on Sundays enjoying good home cooked meals. He loved football but somehow became a Green Bay Packers fan even though he lived his entire live in the Chicago area. He may have been a quiet man, but could talk endlessly about football.
They say a dog can see someone’s soul and the kindness in their heart. This was so obvious with Jerry. He deeply bonded with Kyla (2006-2021), Jackie’s pup, and we are sure that she was there to greet him as the Gates of Heaven. He also immediately gained the trust of Jackie and Cory’s rescue dog that was very fearful of all men.
Jerry was a humble, quiet, and private man with a heart of gold. He dearly loved his parents, Walter and Olga (nee Sen). Jerry in a better place now and we promise to give him the proper send off with the Elvis music he requested.
The family asks you wear something blue if you attend the service as that was his favorite color.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the ASPCA or other animal rescue society in his honor.
