

Joane Boratyn of Chicago Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December, 22 2020 at the age of 101. Joane was born November 18, 1919 in Chicago to beloved parents Joseph and Maryanna Sterczek. In June of 1943 she married the love of her life, the late George Boratyn. Together they had three children; Pamela Dzien (Ken), George Jr. and James (Bernadette). Joane was also the loving grandmother of Jimmy (Melissa) and Jacqueline Boratyn, Nicole Dzien and Kim Ricca (Darryl); and great grandmother of Isabella Ricca.
Joane was preceded in death by her husband George, Sr., son George Jr., her granddaughter Melissa, and her brothers Bruno and Joseph Sterczek and her sisters Jean Kasper (Al); Sophie Michno (Emil), Rose Gus (Edward), Mary Jozefczyk (Edward), and Geraldine Sterling,
Joane cherished her family and loved to cook large family dinners especially at Christmas as she hosted traditional Polish Christmas filled with family, friends, good food and many Christmas Carols. Her home was always filled with love, laughter and much joy. Joane was a hairdresser by trade. She loved styling hair and telling stories; and could talk for hours to anyone she met; she could make hours feel like minutes with her enchanting conversations. Her love for children was always shown as she loved spoiling her nieces and nephews and later her grandchildren. Joane will forever live in our many memories and in the hearts of all those who love her.
On Tuesday, December 29 at 1:00 pm, a mass will be held at St. Juliana Church, 7201 N Oketo Ave, Chicago, IL 60631; followed by interment at St Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, 6800 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL 60714.

This is a 501c3 nonprofit established to continue the work of Melissa Beck-Boratyn who diagnosed breast cancer at the young age of 23 and spent the next 9 years of her life lending support to young people with breast cancer.
