John was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois where he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Chicago Police officer and 30 years in the Unites States Navy. We then retired to Waverly, Tennessee where he enjoyed 20 plus years of country living. In Tennesse when John was not completing his duties as Judicial commissioner or Humphrey's county and working security at Loretta Lynn's ranch, he was pursuing his passion for gardening and wood working.
In 2014 John moved back to Illinois so that he and his wife, the late Nancy Sparks, could be closer to family. They settled in a quiet neighborhood in Matteson, where they lived out the rest of their days. John was a loving Father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. John achieved many titles throughout his life and stayed active in the community. He was a board member of FOP Chicago Lodge #7, member of the Emerald Society, member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, VFW, American Legion, Naval Enlisted Reserve Association, retired Chicago Police Association, Hibernan's Association, US Naval Memorial Association.
As a young man John spent a lot of his time hanging out at raceway park and working on stock cars. Throughout his life John enjoyed fishing, attending baseball games, and spending time with family.
