John G. Hemmer, Age 89, Korean War Veteran passed away on January 9, 2021 in Chicago. Born in South Elgin to George and Marie (Stuehler). Beloved Husband of the late Joan (Wolfer). Loving Father to Katherine and the late Michael. Loving brother to Mary (the late Hans) Hainzl, Ernie (Carol) and the late Eileen (the late Herbert) Austen. Fond Uncle to many. Devoted friend to Beverly and Ross. John retired early at the age of 62 and spent many years visiting his dear friend John in Eagle River, WI spending their time fishing, snowmobiling, eating, drinking and enjoying life. He was a warm, kind and funny man. His philosophy in life was to be kind to everyone, and his quick wit and signature sayings brought a smile to all. John was also a diehard Cub’s fan and was overjoyed when they won the World Series during his lifetime.

Visitation will be at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 w. Belmont on Friday, January 15th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A prayer service will follow at 12:00 and entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines . In lieu of flowers, or for those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of his memory.
