John Arthur Thompson

The family of John Arthur Thompson is saddened to announce his passing on August 23, 2023 at the age of 75, in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life with a smile. John was born October 12, 1947 in Mondovi, Wisconsin to Chester and Thelma (nee Niemi) Thompson. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Carol (nee Trotter). He was a proud father to his only child: Heather Thompson of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his sister: Karen Belden of Eau Claire, WI; brother: Daniel Thompson of Chicago, IL; nephew (son): Douglas Vaughn of Round Lake, IL; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Thelma. John attended school at Lakeview High School in Chicago, IL and graduated in 1966. After 48 years, he retired from Parts and Electric Motors. He was an avid collector of National Geographic magazines as well as tech toys. John enjoyed being outside in nature. He loved running and walking. He also loved weight training. He was an avid believer of taking care of your body by moving it. He loved chocolate candy, chocolate ice cream, a quarter pounder with cheese followed by a chocolate shake… To know him was to love him. He lived a peaceful life and helped everyone that he could. His goal was to see his loved ones successful. At John’s request, no service will be held.
