My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.  May your memories bring you comfort.

Near the end of his life, we did not always remember what an interesting life Uncle Toting had led as fondly remembered uncle, son, father, grandfather, husband, and artist. Luckily, we have his brother Jorge (my dad) to remind us with loving and colorful stories of a childhood and life filled with (sometimes unintended, sometimes rollicking) adventures and island memories.  Thank you all for the wonderful photographs posted here that keeps our memories of him green for as long as we have him in our hearts.

I have many fond memories of the Arguelles family at North Shore Baptist.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Tatay was an everyday kind of man: he did the crossword puzzle everyday; played chess often; gardened in the spring, summer, and fall; went fishing as much as he could. He taught me how to ride a bike on the tarmac of Iloilo airport, brought home some monkey's ears from hunting (ha ha), and took me to Jaro Plaza for avocado ice cream. When I had trouble with chemistry, physics, and calculus homework, he did it all for me. I wish I would have kept the sling shots and other toys he made for me. He is my only and favorite dad.

Dear Mrs Arguelles, Althea, Lester, Gene, Maggie, Charles, Terrence, Isabella, Kenton & other members of the Arguelles Family,
We are deeply saddened at the loss of Jose. He was a man of quiet strength,kindness, compassion, love and faith. We are grateful that we got to meet and know him and visit with him last summer. We know that he has gone home to be with our Lord. Our prayers, thoughts  and love are with you now and always. May God hold you in the palm of his hand and ease your sorrow and may your hearts be filled with cherished memories that will live with you until the day you are reunited with him. We are honored to have known him.

I feel such deep sadness for the loss of Uncle Toting.  I remember during the times I spent with him, his words to his wife, children, about his faith, and to others were always of encouragement, compassion, inspiration, selflessness, and humor. He will be missed.

i will always remember Tatay Joe with a great smile and a humbled spirit. His paintings speaks his life. A great talent and and a very helpful individual. I remember asking him the last time  we visited him in his home if he is ready to see our Maker, and  he answered me with fulfillment and with great pride that He's always been ready anytime the Lord calls him to go HOME!  We will miss you Tatay but we know in our hearts you are now happy and at peace in the loving arms of our GOD! My family will never forget him.

Fun person to be with, Loving husband, Caring father, (non complaining)hard worker, thoughtful friend, generous lolo (especially to my kids), and cool uncle. This is who uncle Toting was and will ever be to me. We will surely miss his visits (in his Winnebago) here in Toronto.

I did not know Mr. Arguelles well, however, I remember him, his love of gardening, his beautiful paintings, and his cherished family. A beautiful life, to be continued in another place. To all the family, my thoughts are with you with love ~

I will always remember Uncle Toting with love and fondness . . . If you want to see an example of success, just look at where this family came from and where they are today.  The lives of so many people have been touched by Uncle Toting and made better for having known him.  I'm proud to call him my Uncle.
