José C. Luna, de 83 años, nacido en San José de Ornelas, Municipio de Manuel Doblado, Guanajuato, México, y residente de Chicago, Illinois, falleció pacíficamente el jueves 16 de octubre de 2025, rodeado del amor de su familia.

Hijo amado de Cirilo Luna (†) y Brigida Ornelas (†). Esposo devoto de María Luna durante 52 años. Querido padre de María de Jesús "Jesusita" (Gaetan) Valentín y Daniel "Deni" (Celestina) Luna. Orgulloso abuelo de Isabela María "Bela" (Zachary) McCann, Jean-Pierre "Champan" Valentin, and Adriana Mikaela "Adri" Valentín. Adorado bisabuelo de Nina Corinne McCann. Amoroso hermano de Nieves (†), María de Jesús, Abel (†), Ana (†), María Guadalupe, Rubén, Abigail, Ramiro, y Sara.

Muy querido y recordado por su familia y amistades, José fue una persona profundamente apreciada por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

José llegó por primera vez a Chicago en 1969. Más tarde regresó a México, y en 1973 volvió a Chicago junto con su esposa María, con mucha ilusión y el sueño de trabajar, formar una familia, y construir una vida mejor para los suyos. Aunque pasó tiempo antes de que tuvieran hijos, su mayor alegría fue criar a su familia y crear y capturar recuerdos eternos juntos mientras exploraban la ciudad que llamaban hogar.

Le gustaba pasar tiempo con su familia y cuidar de su hogar, el cual mantenía con esmero. Era un hombre meticuloso, serio, fuerte y reservado —de pocas palabras, pero con un corazón lleno de amor. Su mayor orgullo y alegría fueron siempre sus hijos, nietos, y su bisnieta.

A pesar de su carácter firme, era imposible para él negarle algo a su hijo, y siempre encontraba la manera de complacerlo. A su hija le dejó una herencia invaluable de amor, fortaleza, y confianza.

José vivirá por siempre en el corazón de quienes lo amaron.

Una visita en honor a Jose C. Luna se llevará a cabo el jueves, 23 de octubre de 2025, de 4:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. en Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL 60646.

El Santo Rosario se rezará de 6:00 p.m. a 7:00 p.m., seguido inmediatamente por una vigilia y servicio de palabras de recuerdo a las 7:00 p.m.

La última vista tendrá lugar el viernes, 24 de octubre de 2025, de 9:00 a.m. a 10:30 a.m. en Malec & Sons Funeral Home, seguida de una Misa en la capilla a partir de las 10:30 a.m. en el mismo lugar.

El Sepultura se realizará en el cementerio Rosehill en Chicago, IL.

José C. Luna, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in San José de Ornelas, Municipio de Manuel Doblado, Guanajuato, Mexico, and made his home in Chicago, Illinois.

Beloved son of Cirilo Luna (†) and Brigida Ornelas (†). Devoted husband of 52 years to María Luna. Cherished father of María de Jesús "Jesusita" (Gaetan) Valentín y Daniel "Deni" (Celestina) Luna. Proud grandfather of Isabela María "Bela" (Zachary) McCann, Jean-Pierre "Champan" Valentin, and Adriana Mikaela "Adri" Valentin. Adored great-grandfather of Nina Corinne McCann. Loving brother of Nieves (†), María de Jesús, Abel (†), Ana (†), María Guadalupe, Rubén, Abigail, Ramiro, and Sara.

José first came to Chicago in 1969. He returned to Mexico, then came back in 1973 with his wife, María, full of hope and determination to build a better life and start a family. Though it took time before they had children, their greatest joy became raising their family, creating and capturing everlasting memories together while exploring the city they called home.

He was a quiet, thoughtful, strong, meticulous, and stoic man, with a deep, unspoken love for those around him. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes. He found great joy in caring for his home and spending time with family. Above all, he took the greatest pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

José had a gentle resistance when asked to do something, but he could never say no to his son, always wanting to appease him. To his daughter, he passed on a legacy of love, strength, and confidence that will continue to live on.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation for Jose C. Luna will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL 60646.

A Rosary will be prayed from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, immediately followed by a Vigil and Words of Remembrance service at 7:00 PM.

A final viewing will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Malec & Sons

Funeral Home, followed by a Chapel Mass beginning at 10:30 AM at the same location.

Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
