Joseph Bosnyak

January 9, 1925 – July 10, 2026
Obituary of Joseph Bosnyak
IN THE CARE OF

Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home

Joseph Bosnyak was born on January 9, 1925, to Joseph and Victoria Bosnyak in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2026, with his loving daughter, Sandra, and his very special caregiver, Gary Render, at his side.

Joe was a lifelong resident of Chicago. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He attained the rank of Sergeant, serving as a top turret gunner and mechanic. His dedication and courage during the war remained a source of pride throughout his life.

Following his honorable discharge, Joe married his sweetheart, Josephine “Josie” Carlino, on June 3, 1950. Joe lived in the flat above Josie’s parents, and their love story began through evenings of bowling, roller skating, and the walks home they shared afterward. Together they shared more than 70 wonderful years of marriage until Josie’s passing in 2021. They enjoyed traveling, visiting family, and creating countless cherished memories with those they loved.

Joe worked for Sunbeam Corporation until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Victoria Bosnyak; his beloved wife, Josephine “Josie” Bosnyak; and his sister, Helen McDonald.

Those 70 years of marriage produced Sandra Harrell (Don), Joseph Bosnyak, Dennis Bosnyak, and James Bosnyak. Joe was a proud grandfather to Lori Davis (Chris), Timothy Rutledge (Rita), Thomas Rutledge (Amy), Greg Rutledge, Melissa Innis, Michelle Bosnyak, Kristine Syron (Edward), Scott Bosnyak (Theresa), and Paul Bosnyak (Melissa). He was a loving great-grandfather to Micayla McKinney, Hanna Rutledge, McKinley Davis, Braxton Davis, Brynlee Rutledge, Addlee Rutledge, Isabella Yant, Jacob Innis, Noah Frochlich, Eddie Syron, Aubrey Bosnyak, Patrick Bosnyak, and Maximillian Bosnyak. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

An intimate service for immediate family will be held at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home in Chicago. Joe will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in River Grove.

In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, the family respectfully requests that no flowers or gifts be sent. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
