Marvin, Sylvia and Gina,  your dad was in many ways my dad. My memories of your dad have always been as a strong and determined man. I share your grief and your pain and more so the regret of not being able to physically pay my respects.  Please know that since the news of his passing, I have been keeping him in my heart in mind.  Marvin as my childhood brother and friend, I offer you my deepest condolences.  Peace is what we fight for as soliders, Law Enforcement and children of GOD.  Peace is what your dad now has.....the comfort of knowing he is at peace, should eventually put us at peace with his passing.  Love you guys.

When I walked into 26th and Cal. 20 some years ago , the first place they sent me was the "bridge." One of the first people I met, one of the first people to show me the ropes, one of the first friends I made on the job,was D/S Juan Marin. We had our bridge crew back then, and we didnt call him Juan, or John, or Deputy Marin. We called him...Papi. He liked to call himself "Bonecrusher", and when he did, we would all laugh. We would do that a lot. He was proud to be a Sheriff, and even more proud when Marvin followed in his footsteps. You could see just how proud, when he took Marvin down to the bridge to meet his friends. He was beaming. He was a man who respected the job and demanded you respect the job he did. An honest man , who did an honest days work. I could go on with memories and stories, but those will be shared later. I thank the Marin family , for sharing Juan with us , his "bridge crew". I know when he and I meet again, he'll be there to show me the ropes. Finally, to you Papi, thanks for always bein there. See you on down the road. Goodbye my "bonecrushing" friend.

I know the absence of your Dad will be an emptiness too large to fill. I did not know your Dad, but knowing you and having you as a member of the family speaks volumes as to what kind of a man he was, you do him proud as a wonderful son.  You were gifted with many years and memories to help you through life. I will remember him in my prayers.
