

Katie Mathien (nee Berauer), 91 native of Yugoslavia, longtime resident of Chicago, and most recently Inspirations of St. Charles passed away peacefully February 2, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Bruno; loving mother of Mary Ann (John) Anthony, Elizabeth (John) Meyer, Robert (Maureen nee Bennett), Margaret (Andrew) Principe, Linda (Matt) Mlsna and Joan (Terris Major); cherished grandmother of Katie and Brigitte Anthony, Adam and Emma Meyer, Brian (Tara) and Christopher Mathien, Katherine, Elizabeth, Andrew and Joseph Principe and Lucas and Roxanne Mlsna; proud great grandmother of Van James Mathien; devoted daughter of the late Adam and Maria Berauer; dearest sister of Mary (the late Rudolph) Frohlich and the late Heinrich (Anna) Berauer; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews. Katie spread joy with her singing, baking, friendship and kindness. Visitation Monday, Feb. 4th, 4 – 9 p.m. at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago.
