Beloved Mother, Grammie, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
Kimberly A. Casper, age 64, passed away on September 29, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer. Kim was a woman with a heart of gold, a strong spirit, and a love for life that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Kind, caring, fun-loving, and incredibly tough, she was the person you could always count on, no matter the circumstances. Her generosity knew no limits, her loyalty ran deep, and her love for her family and friends was immeasurable.
Above all else, Kim was devoted to her family. She was the loving mother of Dana (Bryan) Windberg and Ross (Nicole) Casper, and the proudest Grammie to Grace, Gavin, Knox, and Beckett, who were truly her entire world. Whether cheering from the sidelines at their sporting events or simply enjoying time in each other's company, Kim treasured every moment with her grandchildren. Being their Grammie was one of her greatest joys, and the love, memories, and traditions she created with them will live on forever.
Kim is also survived by her beloved niece, Amanda, her nephew, Nicholas, and her great-nephew, Trevor. Kim and Larry shared a special bond and a valued friendship as they co-parented throughout the years while they supported their children and each other. Kim was blessed with the love, support and companionship of Jack Woods and her life long friend, Cindi Cluck. Kim was preceded in death by her brother, Jim, whom she lovingly and selflessly cared for over many years. Having lost Jim just one month before her own passing, Kim's dedication to him was a beautiful reflection of the compassion, strength, and unconditional love that defined her life.
Kim dedicated much of her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally. She spent 30 years working at HCSC where she took great pride in her work and made lasting friendships. But her desire to help others extended far beyond her career. Throughout her life, Kim wore many hats. She baked beautiful cakes, coached softball, served on the Hometown Special Events Committee and Park Board, and always found ways to give back to the community she loved.
Retirement was certainly not a time for slowing down for Kim. She continued to keep herself busy by driving a senior bus, working in a garden center, and even fulfilling her entrepreneurial spirit by starting her own hot dog cart business. She generously donated her time serving up hot dogs for the Oak Lawn Outlaws, local car shows, and the fire department events with her son-in-law, Bryan. She also worked with the Hometown Fire Department and enjoyed bringing treats to the firehouse guys. Kim’s willingness to give her time, energy, and love made a lasting impression on all the lives she touched.
Kim was also a cherished member of the CrossFit community, where she formed countless friendships and found strength, encouragement, and camaraderie. Even while facing the challenges of cancer, she continued to demonstrate the incredible toughness and determination that everyone who knew her had come to admire.
Kim knew how to enjoy life. She loved to shop, spend summer days swimming, travel whenever the opportunity arose, try her luck at the slot machines, and enjoy a good cocktail hour. She loved to stay busy, make memories, laugh, and most importantly, spend time with the people she loved.
Kim had a rare gift for making people feel loved, welcomed, and supported. She was the person who would drop everything to help someone in need, celebrate your successes as if they were her own, and stand beside you through life's hardest moments. Her impact reached far beyond her family and friends, extending throughout the entire community she so proudly served. The countless lives she touched are a testament to the remarkable woman she was.
Though Kim's time here was far too short, the love she gave, the friendships she nurtured, the memories she created, and the lives she impacted will never be forgotten.
Kim will be missed more than words can express, but her selfless legacy and unmistakable spirit will live on in her children, grandchildren, family, friends and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Until we meet again, Grammie. You were loved beyond measure and will be missed every single day.
