Margaret Mary Beaton

Margaret Beaton of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on August 24, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. She was born February 24, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois to late Gordon and late Viola (nee: Lepisto) Beaton. She graduated from Lake View High School in Chicago, Illinois. She then attended the Art Institute of Chicago. Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University and did graduate work in French Literature at the University of Chicago. In 1973 she moved to Paris, France and worked on the staff of UNESCO for six years. She returned home to care for her Father. After her return to Chicago, she taught French briefly and then worked as a writer and consultant in publishing. Margaret loved all animals and adopted a dog and many cats. She also loved to look out her window at her garden.

She leaves behind cousins and many friends. In lieu of flowers contributions to Paws Chicago or WTTW - Channel 11 Chicago in Margaret’s name would be appreciated. An Inurnment at Rosehill Cemetery, 5800 North Ravenswood Ave., Chicago, IL 60660 will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00AM, everyone is asked to assemble at the main office located at the main entrance of the cemetery at 10:45AM.
