
Marie Claire Sullivan Costello peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 7th, 2015. She is predeceased by her mother, Apolonia “Lucy” Biedrzycki, her father, John Patrick Sullivan, her brother, John Eugene Sullivan and her husband, Fred Costello. Marie was born on October 5th, 1919 in Gilbert, Minnesota. She attended Hibbing High School and Marquette University, where she graduated first in her class of nursing in June of 1941, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree. Marie worked as the Chief Nurse at Aldens, Inc. and Campbell Soup (1953-1970), and then retired as Chief Nurse from CNA Inc. Co. on February 1st, 1990. She loved working as a nurse and always enjoyed helping others. She was a devoted Catholic and proud member of Saint Germaine Parish in Oak Lawn. Marie loved adventure and traveled the world throughout her incredible life. Marie loved hearing and telling jokes, and enjoyed having parties with all of her many friends and family members, especially all of her get-togethers she had with her friends at the Shibui Apartments where she lived for many years. Marie will be greatly missed by her sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Sullivan, her nephew, Jack Sullivan, (his wife Donna), her niece, Andree Sullivan, her grandnieces, Erin Copeland and Alison Sullivan, her great-grandniece and nephew, Ella & Tripp Copeland, her cousins Adrian Belizario and Donna O’Connor, her Godchild Kathy, her “adopted” son, Michael Burke, her “adopted” daughter, Chrissy Howlett and all of her special friends who were so dear to her heart. Her family would like to thank all of the very kind women who cared for her as she grew older and needed their special care and services. Marie Costello will be missed by all who loved her and her tremendous sense of humor that she shared with everyone over the past ninety-five wonderful years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 12th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Germaine Church, 9711 S. Kolin (Oak Lawn). Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City.
